• At least 13 people died in Kerr County, Texas, after severe flooding inundated the area, officials said today. County Sheriff Larry L. Leitha said he expects more fatalities will be reported in the county.
• Separately, Texas Acting Gov. Dan Patrick said around 20 children are unaccounted for at Camp Mystic, which is in Kerr County. He cautioned it “does not mean they are lost.”
• Widespread rainfall of 4 to 8 inches, with some reports of up to 15 inches, has fallen in south-central Texas since late Thursday evening, prompting multiple flash flood emergencies — the most severe form of flood warning.
• More heavy rain is possible into the evening as slow-moving storms stall over the same hard-hit areas.
